Thriketa is the sixth day of the celebration of Onam. A mood of delight and joy can be felt among the people of Kerala at this fourth dimension. Edifying programs and social gatherings areorganized by various cultural societies all over Kerala. Multitude of all religions caste and creed chip in at these consequences as the fiesta of Onam has come to be regarded as a worldly festival.

Government of India too celebrates Onam as the National Festival of Kerala. There are no set rituals marked for the day of Triketta. It sets the time for homecoming for people staying away from their families for several causes. Onam is the time for family get together and nobody likes to be away from family and dear ones. The joy of festivities doubles in the troupe of kin members and close acquaintances. On this happy note, Pookalam gets a more beautiful design and sweet flowers.

The fifth day of Onam Celebrations, Snake Boats get ready to run in the Aranmula Uthrattathi Vallamkali. The  Aranmula Uthrattathi Vallamkali is one of the most significant day in the Onam days as it kicks off the great Vallam Kali (Snake boat) at many parts of Kerala. A mock Vallam Kali is conducted on this day at Aranmula as a dress-rehearsal for the famed Aranmula boat race which will be held after Onam on the banks of the river Pamba at Aranmulla. 

A big number of long snake like boats called chundan vallams participate in Vallamkali. Each attractively festooned boat is roared by hundreds of roars men dressed in the traditional dhoti and turban. Boats are roared on the rhythm of vanchipattu or boat songs. Vallamkali is essentially a team event as a single error by an roarsman can lead to the overturning of the boat.

In the front of every house, more flowers are added to the Pookalam laid in the front court of the home. Women become really busy making arrangements for Thiruonam and a general air of excitement prevail at this time in Kerala

Onam day 4 Visakam- Celebrations

It is considered to be one of the most propitious day. In past time, today there will be crop sale on this day, which will make today one of the busiest days in market. Vishakam will flag up lot of competitions like Pookalam, Vallamkali (the snake boat race) etc. Well-known races include the Aranmula Uthrattadhi Boat Race and the Nehru Trophy Boat Race.

Girls connect themselves in preparing new designs for Pookalam with flowers of diverse colors and patterns. It is an attractive vision to see women dressed in their conventional outfit working on creating Pookalam. They let the cat out of the bag and make joyous as and at the same time give shape to their creativeness.
